State anthem of Gondal by Vihari

PRESS RELEASE
30.05.2011

The online obituary page www.HS.fi/muistot of Finland’s largest daily newspaper Helsingin Sanomat is an example of Vendep’s new service model in which an established website with a broad readership is offered software development resources for the technical implementation of an idea and developing new services with shared risk. Helsingin Sanomat is responsible for the content, while Vendep supplies the software and the e-commerce expertise.

The new obituary service, which is unique in Finland in terms of scope, opened on 30 May 2011 at www.HS.fi/muistot. All of the obituaries that are submitted to the newspaper will be published online. Relatives can send the text and a photo easily from their own computer. The service allows the newspaper to publish obituaries at the exact time requested by relatives. In turn, readers can search for obituaries by name, profession, education or location. The www.HS.fi/muistot website includes already 2500 obituaries that were previously published. In the near future it will be possible to read all the obituaries published in Helsingin Sanomat from 2006 onwards.

“The technical implementation of the website has gone well, and we at Vendep have worked hard to make sure that the www.HS.fi/muistot website is a unique online service that meets the demands of customers,” says Sakari Pihlava, Managing Director of Vendep.

“The www.HS.fi/muistot website is exceptional due to the subject matter, which demands respect and dignity. This has been kept in mind from the start while developing the website together with Vendep, and it can also be seen in the implementation of the service. Helsingin Sanomat will continue to focus on developing services that are meaningful to people together with reliable partners,” says Masa Peura, Business Development Manager at Helsingin Sanomat.
